Lemme explain.
One day, I was sitting at my little, humble "desk" (okay, I confess, my TV tray that serves as a desk for my laptop, but I
swear I'm getting one soon :p) , feeling very bummed out about the momentum of the Obama campaign. It seemed, as I read about his victories, and read the anti-Hilliary comments, that the American public
YET AGAIN was missing the point. And not only were they missing the point, they were missing the peripheral atmosphere as well.
Well, in the midst of the bleeting, and 'baaaahing' from the "sheeple" (sheep+people=sheeple=average american voter), was this golden nugget of a comment. Finally, there was someone besides myself that had their eyes and mind engaged.
Here is that
AWESOME quote that I found courtesy of the comments section, located at the bottom of an article on AOL. I'm sorry that I didn't catch the poster's name, but I literally screamed out 'yeses' with such enthusiam, my neighbors probably thought the last thing I was doing was reading a political article:
"
I am exhausted with this media-driven HYPE surrounding Obama. One would think we are having some ridiculous new TV reality show contest. This "media" tends to resemble to National Enquirer rather than real journalism, it is pathetic at best. We ought not to be looking for the next David Koresh, but the next leader of the United States of America. The fact that this rookie senator with a razor thin resume is being praised as the second coming is only telling of our collective, continued stupidity. I guess we really have learned nothing from the failures of George W. Bush."
It's like this person was able to not only cosmically tap into my mind, but also know that I would need their quote for a future blog posting...a 'blog whisperer' if you will. But they go on to bring the point on home:
"
I think the media... has sold their soul to Obama. He is being pushed like the "veg-o-matic" by them. I get very leery when the news media hypes anything so hard. Remember the lead up to the Iraq War. "
Yes, I remember. We
all remember, and so help us God, we as a country are living to regret it.
But you want to know the funny thing? We regretted it even a year after the fact. So did this country own up to its mistake like mature adults (are supposed) to? Naw, we re-elected the cult-leader George W. Bush
AGAIN ! Now why do I call him a cult-leader? Well he has all of the characteristics of a cult-leader. Savior Complex, check. Numb-minded following, check. Nefarious intentions cloaked behind feel-good religious a.k.a 'good family values' rhetoric, check. Absolute 'black and white', 'my way or the highway', alienating, condeming, value system that fuels a machine that destroys any and all opposition, check, check, check.
But this isn't about George Dubya. No, this is about someone, something even far more dangerous then he, if that is at all possible. This is about "Obamamania", the new feel-good movement that is the fastest growing religion that I've ever witnessed in my lifetime. Jim Jones, David Koresh, L. Ron Hubbard, and all the rest are foaming their mouths from their graves
WISHING they had such a following of sheeple. Now those men wielded a lot of power over the minds, and lives of the sheeple in their flock, but the U.S. presidency? Never in their wildest, wacked out dreams!
Because these cult leaders were crazy, but certainly not stupid, they kept their movements secretive; these were basically "word of mouth" enterprises. I must admit that I never knew about these movements until after they were safely out of the way, and there was the appropriate public outcry. But somewhere, there must have been a copy of the Jonestown kool-aid recipe, because the sheeple have drank it, and indeed have spent the first part of the millenium in a hazed, brainless stupor. The sheeple have chosen by and large, to elevate this young, well-intentioned but out of his league Senator to a leader of cult status. Obamamania has swept the country, and the only requirement for conversion into this cult is one catchphrase spoken by its practioners: "CHANGE".
